Salary- $11.50 Hourly

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:

Performs responsible human support work for efficient managing of the congregate/home delivered meals program; does related work as required.  Work is performed under regular supervision of the Senior Center Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

Organizing and directing the Center’s congregate and home-delivered meals program along with working directly with contractors and volunteers; coordinating the pick-up and delivery of meals for the Center’s congregate and home-delivered meals programs.

  • Ensures daily meals meet RDA guidelines.
  • Prepares meals daily; orders and receives meals from caterer as needed.
  • Performs temperature checks daily on congregate food served.
  • Maintains temperature log.
  • Ensures that the adequate numbers of meals are served daily for both home-delivered and congregate meals.
  • Maintains organized schedule for meal deliveries.
  • Ensures all non-disposable items are washed and garbage is disposed of properly.
  • Ensures the dining hall is swept and mopped daily with fresh water.
  • Oversees site clean-up after meals in accordance with sanitation and fire inspection standards.
  • Abides by all regulations in the state nutrition manual daily.
  • Prepares monthly reports of meals served, menus and temperatures.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

General knowledge of the philosophy, principals and practices of senior center activities; general knowledge of the County’s policies and procedures; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; general knowledge of the State Nutrition Manual; general knowledge of RDA guidelines; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and associates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some food handling and service experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of or ability to obtain food service safety and CPR certifications within 6 months of hire.
